Compare broad display patterns
This embedded test is a quick comparison of gradients, contrast steps and solid colors in the browser viewport. A gradient helps you look for abrupt bands. Dark and light steps help you notice whether nearby shades are distinguishable under your current brightness and ambient lighting.
Cycle the patterns without changing brightness halfway through the run. A screenshot can preserve the intended pattern but will not record how your physical display rendered it.
When a pattern looks wrong
- Dark steps merge: reduce glare and compare a comfortable brightness setting. Display processing and viewing angle affect the result.
- A gradient has visible bands: compare another browser and disable optional color filters for the comparison if appropriate. Banding can arise from rendering, color processing or the panel; this page cannot isolate them.
- A fixed dot or patch: use the fullscreen dead-pixel inspection to check the same position on six solid colors. The display-defect guide distinguishes pixel-sized marks from retention and burn-in.
This is not a calibrated color chart: there is no reference instrument measuring luminance, contrast ratio or color accuracy. Browser scaling and OS color management affect what you see. For taps that miss rather than an image defect, use the touch coverage grid. Patterns run locally and your saved result is a visual observation.
