A quick desk and call-framing check
This page is for checking how you look in a browser call: position the webcam at eye level, put the main light in front of you, and inspect the background. Start the webcam, adjust your setup and capture a local snapshot. Capture releases the camera; retake starts a new preview.
The preview and saved snapshot are mirrored for a self-view. Text may therefore look reversed. This utility does not promise that a calling app will mirror or crop the image the same way.
Compare framing, not advertised megapixels
The reported dimensions are the delivered browser stream. The photo is a copy of that stream, not a full-resolution still from the camera sensor. Use the camera diagnostics page if you need device selection, front/rear preferences and frame-update evidence.
- Dark face and bright background: move the light in front of you or turn away from the window. Compare a fresh snapshot after changing one thing.
- Soft image: clean the lens with an appropriate cloth and move to a normal focus distance. Improve lighting before drawing a conclusion about focus hardware.
- USB webcam unavailable: reconnect it and close apps holding the camera. Check browser and OS permissions; an access error is not hardware proof.
Pair the framing check with a short microphone recording and test the intended meeting app as well. Browser preview cannot certify autofocus, stabilization or native app compatibility.
Local snapshot handling
The image stays in page memory and is not uploaded by this tool. You can download it explicitly if you want a local reference. Do not capture private background details you do not want in that file. Result metadata persists only when you save your assessment; separate site analytics and ads are described in the privacy policy.
